Apply for a work permit at the border

Hi everyone,

The processing time for a work permit in Canada right now is about 3 months. I am currently living in Canada and have a positive LMIA. Does anyone know if I can go to the US-Canada boarder and flagpole back to Canada and apply for a work permit at the border? I have a valid visa that expires on December 2016. Is there anyone out there who has done this recently?

As a US citizen, I can't Flagpole, but I can go to the border and turn around.

Took about 20 minutes to apply at Peace Arch. Are you from a visa waiver country, or do you need a TRV?

I am not from a visa waiver country, and I do need a TVR. However, I already have a TVR that is valid until December 2016. I'm currently residing in Canada on a Study permit and will formally graduate in the in mid August. Since my contract is for the 1st of September, I wanted to avoid the 3 month wait (during which I won't be able to work any where, which will put me in financial strain). I wanted to know whether temporary residents of Canada who are NOT from a visa waiver country but have a valid TVR can apply at the border.
