Hello jackil,

In my view if asked past medical history you suppose to tell that you are been diagnosed with ptb before and treated. This is like you are been asked for any allergy, if you are allergic for example penicillin you always put on your medical file and inform any new practitioner you will be seeing.

Update, I checked just today at cic website no medical receive yet on our file.

Andy
Thank you! I'm just worried because if they found out, maybe they will treat me again and do further tests...i'm not even contagious when i was diagnosed, a small scar was found so i submit my self for treatment immediately so as not to worsen it...
How did you found out that i don't have medicals yet ??can you give me the link...
Thank you so much!

Any insight in this case would be appreciated,
1) wife got diagnosed of non lungs TB in Jan 15. In Canada, treatment (9 Months Meds) started by the health care department.
2) Got AOR in March, And medical done in April. After two weeks of Medical came to know she is pregnant (TB meds are pregnancy safe.)
3) Now have got Extra Medical Exam request. Panel Doc is away for 3-4 days so will return to him then.
4) My WP is expiring so have to travel back. Planning to apply from my home country again in near future and use the same medical test.

Now my question is
1) What are the chances of me getting fresh WP from my home country because of this medical issue. Also I am planning to use the existing medical exam for my application of WP. Is that advisable?
2) What kind of extra exams do they ask for non lungs TB?
3) What should be the answer for me and my spouse for the question "Have you or any of your family member(s) have ever had tuberculosis of the lungs or been in close contact with a person with tuberculosis within the past two years."

Hi Ivan,

In my husband's case everything went well so no extension for the medication. He was done Mar 3 and that's also the day he was asked to come for the re-xray and everything is clear, no sign of anything. He did 2 sputums with them (first was June 2014 all negative, then another one on Dec 15,16,17 still all negative) So we're just waiting for them to get the passport. Hoping soon :)

Hi Ms.Pat,

I am a new member here and have read just few threads about FSW applicants diagnosed with PTB. We received our MR last February 9, 2015 and unfortunately there was a spot seen on the left upper lobe of my hubby. He doesn't have history of TB, he doesn't have symptoms, he doesn't smoke and not alcoholic. So, nag sputum test din sya. The result was all smears negative, and sa culture naman first two specimen are negative but the last specimen is positive. Nag re-xray sya this month and the spot was stable. Nag start na rin sya sa treatment.

Just would like to ask based sa experience nyo kung kailan mag sputum culture ulit? Nag sputum culture ba hubby mo sa 2nd and 4th month of treatment? How about the rest of the family like your children, pinainom ba ng preventive treatment? or nag tuberculin test pa sila? Thanks in
Advance po.

God Bless.

Hi miss ept...

based on my experience, i have done three sputum afb and culture three times that costs Php 8250 each... i have done my medical in November 2014, then I was diagnosed to have a Right Upper Lobe PTB... I immediately accepted the treatment, because the sooner i start, then the sooner i finish... then December, I was instructed to do my first Sputum AFB Culture which are all negative.. The Second AFB Culture was done in February 2015 (3rd month of my treatment) which are also all negative (Thank God). And the third AFB Culture was done in March 2015 (4th Month of my treatment), I am still awaiting for the result of Culture because it will be done this May... I have already finished my 6 months treatment last May 2... The Pulmonologist already gave me my Clearance and she will just be waiting for the result of the my last culture so that she could update the embassy about my medical...

Goodluck and Godbless! Just be patient :)

Hi ept,

sa case ng husband ko he did the 2nd sputum request after 3 months of medication and that was it. We just waited for the 6th mos then cleared. No preventive meds for my kids since all sputum and smear are negative. It was just hazy on the left, no spot or what so ever but they rulled out right away suspiscious TB. No symptoms, husband is regular to the gym and doing mountain climbing. It's just so unlucky of him na that day his Xray is not clear as to what they want. My Kids were all ok with their Xray. :)

Hi sir!

You mean, u took the treatment prior to the result of your 1st sputum culture? I thought if result of smear and culture are negative, it will be subject for surveillance in Canada. So, as long as there's a suspicion in the lungs, regardless of the result of smear and culture, does it really necessary to undergo the 6months treatment? Thanks.

Hi ebp!

Yes i took the treatment before doing the sputum afb and culture... i have consulted a private Pulmonologist also and told me i have to undergo six month treatment because i did have PTB in the right upper lobe.. i also have my previous xrays with me, and when they compared it, the spot in my right upper lobe was visible... so i agreed to undergo with the treatment :)

I think its already part of the procedure for evaluation with those who had undergone a previous PTB treatment that left a scar. Like me I even gave all my previous xray plates and gave a certification of treatment from my pulmonologist. They still required me to undergo the test so no choice, I still have to wait for 2 months for the culture result. I think its part of the medical surveillance of the embassy. If you'll not going to do it now, who knows if the embassy would be the one to require which would cause additional delay. Its still your call. Pray for God's will. That's all we can do.

When did you appear for medical tests ? And yaa the result takes two months it is so long and hope we all get negative result and sure it will be cuz we already have gone through the treatment.
