Passport request with a PFL pending

My son, who is my dependent, got a PFL for his TRV (visitor visa) due to an undisclosed visa refusal 2 months ago, which we responded to. It is still pending. However, my PR has progressed to the point where it has been approved, and IRCC has requested his passport that says Ready for Visa. I thought the PFL would have to be resolved first. I want to be happy but I am not so sure what is going on anymore. Does anyone know what this means? We are submitting the passport as requested but I just want to know.

Most likely PFL was resolved and your application moved foreword.

TRV application and the PR application are separate applications, However, I would not assume that the PFL has been cancelled, ignored, or decided in the child's favour simply because the PR passport request was issued. The two applications can be processed independently, and the PFL concern could still require a decision on the TRV application.
