I submitted my portal2 answer on April 10. Im still waiting for the ECOPR and for my PR card.
I have a planned trip by July 2nd. Not refundable ticket. (Ouch).
I think by that time I already receive my ECOPR, But the PR card?
I still can travel with my RTD and notice of decision?
Not possible travel by land. It's not USA trip. Must take a flight.

If you receive your eCOPR while abroad, or you travel abroad after getting your eCOPR but before getting your PR card, you won't be able to board a flight to Canada before first getting a PR Travel Document from the Canadian embassy at the country you're visiting.

But I have a valid refugee travel document.

That doesn't matter, as a permanent resident you're required to have your PR card or a PR Travel Document (VISA like single use sticker placed in your travel document) before boarding a flight to or entering Canada.

If you do somehow board a flight to Canada as a permanent resident without having your PR card or a PR Travel Document (Airlines aren't supposed to let you board like that), it is up to a CBSA officer's discretion to admit you into Canada if they're satisfied that you're a PR.

I received my eCoPR on June 3, 2026, and flew from Vancouver to Los Angeles on June 5–7 (literally 2 days later). I already had the trip booked, and I also hold a valid Canadian Refugee Travel Document but did not yet have my PR card.

Like many others, I was concerned after reading forum posts saying a PR card or PRTD is required to board a return flight to Canada when using a commercial carrier.

My trip was with Air Canada, direct flights both ways (Vancouver–Los Angeles–Vancouver).

In my case, everything went smoothly. I was able to check in online for the return flight, received a digital boarding pass, and was not asked to present a PR card or eCoPR at any point. Upon arrival in Vancouver, CBSA admitted me using my Refugee Travel Document and did not ask for my eCoPR or PR card.

I heard one guy in this forum. Traveled without the card. In between the ecopr and the card reception. Just showed the RTD and had any problem. But probably Is risky.

There is typically a bit of a grace period but if it is a month+ after you received eCOPR you may fall out of that period. How long will you be away since your return is return is really the issue? You may want to apply for an PRTD. Are you flying direct? On a Canadian airline?
