Read the link provided. Ontario is no longer supporting those who don't have status, are visitors, students etc.
PRRA isn’t a status . Guess you should be relying on the money you said you had to support your visit as a visitor , versus the Ontario taxpayer
Note to people from Pakistan who apply for a visitor visa and then turn around and claim asylum . This is an example why many get refused
Least Ontario Works has stopped
Normally refugee claim is not status too especially for who people border crossed but they are receiving Ontario works as far as i know
I think this has nothing to do with Bill C12, it is likely because of your visitor status. I would call Ontario works and ask about reasons. However, staying on social assistance for more than 1 year would have negative impact on you future immigration applications, this will be viewed as you are not contributing to Canada economy.

Fairly clear given the published changes why this happened. It was fairly crazy that you could get welfare as a visitor or likely as a person without status which I assume OP is at this point.
How can it be restarted you are in Canada without status? The new rules state that if you don’t have status in Canada you no longer can qualify for OW.
seriously i am confused too, may be case worker is assuming that based on PRRA submission
Sadly many governent employees have no idea what they are doing and can’t always be trusted to provide accurate information. OW case workers have limited knowledge about immigration in Canada and the changes to OW eligibility are very recent. Please let us know if you do get your OW back because it would be interesting to know if PPRA changes your OW eligibility. Assume you are out of status.
