Hi All, need help while filling my canada PR application. Here is my status - My spouse and I are separated for more than 1 year. Currently I am going to file mutual separation notice in court.

in my IRCC application before ITA I have given status as legally separated because I am going to file for divorce. Now I got ITA and completing my PR appl. How to answer this question? - "Has XYZ been previously married or in a common-law relationship? (required)" - Do they mean current relationship or they are asking past marriage/relationship? This is my 1st marriage.

Since this is your first and only marriage and you're still legally married (just separated), select "No" for that question. It's asking about previous relationships. Meaning ones that ended before your current/most recent one. Your current marriage, even though you're separated, is covered under your marital status which you already declared as legally separated.

Make sure your marital status consistently says "legally separated" across your entire application. And keep documentation of your separation ready. Things like separate addresses, separate bank accounts, or a separation agreement in case IRCC asks for proof.

Thank you so much for replying! Yes I am in the same status even before ITA. Currently attaching court docs and affidavit before submission of appl. Hope that is enough.
