Under a Visitor Visa, Mr. X visited Canada on April 25th, 2026, with the idea of staying in Canada for the maximum period allowed for a Visitor Visa on a single trip, that is, for 180 days. Accordingly, the maximum period of stay for Mr. X in Canada expires on October 24, 2026.

But, it so happened that after the visit on April 25th, 2026, Mr. X stayed in Canada until July 1, 2026 and then visited the U.S. for 19 days uptil July 19, 2026 and then, returned to and re-entered Canada on July 19, 2026.

Now, what would be maximum period of stay for Mr. X in Canada during this trip – whether the 180-days period will count from April 25, 2026 or from July 19, 2026 ?

Would warn you that going to the US and then trying to reenter to get another 6 months may not work if you do it multiple times. Mr X is still a visitor and will be expected to return home and reestablish his ties to his home country eventually before trying to visit Canada again.

What EXACTLY is this person trying to do ? Live here ? People with ties to their home country can’t typically just leave and stay months away
If they are so concerned why didn’t they ask this when they entered the country ?
You’re playing with fire

I'd love to see serious reforms to visitor visas and super visas. People literally live here for 10 years on Super visa and I'm quite surprised how IRCC/CBSA think a person who would live here for years would have "settled life" back in their home country.
