I have a weird situation. I am a Canadian citizen (granted in 2025), my wife is a PR and my minor stayed for more than 3 years outside Canada while being a PR. We wanted to bring her here but because of her schooling outside of Canada and our rental lease mentioning only 2 people living agreement delayed her incoming. Now it seems she will have 652 days inside Canada when her PR card expires in 2028. The eligibility says no need of physical presence for 5(2). I am not sure if she her application will be accepted or rejected. I am planning to apply for her citizenship along with her mother (is also a pr and meets the residency requirements) next month. Please suggest if you have some more insights into it.

Asked and answered elsewhere.

Because you are a citizen, you can apply now under 5(2) for her. It should all go smoothly.

If you combine the applications, they will likely treat this as they do most 'family' apps, and hold the child's up until the mother's is approved and grant them at the same time.

So: apply for the kid's citizenship first, separately, based on being PR/child of a citizen (you). Spouse's application separately, later (I don't think important how much later).

One last question. When i checked the CT0008 form, it had a place to fill how many days lived outside of Canada, which obviously is more than 3 years in my case. Does it have anything to do with residency requirement for 5(2)? This form is for 5(2) so was surprised to see this part. Thanks.

I honestly don't remember. Again, there's no residency requirement under this, so I don't know why it has it.
