Hi All, I’m looking for some advice regarding a TRV application for our baby.
My spouse and I are both Canadian permanent residents since 2019 and our elder daughter also has PR. We are currently in India and our baby was born here.
We are now planning to move back to Canada together as a family.

Our plan is:
  • Apply for a TRV for our baby.
  • If the TRV is approved, travel to Canada together.
  • Once we arrive in Canada, submit his inland permanent residence sponsorship application.
This will be our baby’s first Canadian visa application. We genuinely intend to settle back in Canada permanently, not just visit temporarily.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

  • What are the chances of a TRV being approved in this situation?
  • What documents helped your application?
  • How long did processing take?
  • If the TRV is refused, does that negatively affect a future PR sponsorship application?

1. Depends on the funds, ties to return etc. you show for the baby. With both of you still in Indian it will weaken application.
2. Nothing much infant can show to return. IRCC knows that so show that you meet RO to apply for sponsorship inland, and have health insurance for a few years since infant will not have access to provincial healthcare.
3. Look at current processing times for an estimate.
4. No. But one should come to Canada (even now) and start the process if you meet RO.

What happened back in 2021 when you said you were doing this same thing ?

Are you compliant with your RO ?
If you’re not compliant you’ve got bigger problems to deal with

“We genuinely intend to settle back in Canada permanently, not just visit temporarily.”

Sorry bud , doesn’t appear to be that way

Is this your second child you’ve had in India ?
