hey everyone, im 18 years old and have recently graduated highschool. im bisexual and genderqueer and have been harassed for it by people (and threatened to be handed to thenpolice by my school) and i was wondering if i could apply for asylum but my main issue is not having money and university. am i allowed to study? would i have to pay international fee and is it possible to work? does government support queer refugees at all? any help on this situation or any information about the process is a huge help. thank you.

So you need an approved study permit (lots of money) or an approved TRV (still need money) to apply for asylum once you enter Canada. Plan on where you will live...not sure what support you are looking for. Have lots of money so you can live. Read through the link. You can study but still an international student and pay international fees while you wait for PR.

thank you ive read that but im still confused, wont the government help with accommodation upon arrival? and can i pay the domestic fees after pr approval? im honestly just hoping to pay for it (or atleast the later stages of it) with getting a job as im not sure how much money i can bring to support myself

1. Government may not provide any accommodation. Once you enter Canada, depending on the province then you call the shelter intake line for that province.
2. PR takes many years once you claim asylum. You don't get PR. You have hearings and after acceptance, you need to become a protected person and then apply for PR.

For a TRV, you need to show a minimum of $10k cash in your personal bank account with strong ties to return (job, business, income property) and travel history. If you are single with no job then chances of approval are low. First step is a TRV or study permit. Do you have a passport? Cash?
