Passport return process for voluntary departure

Hi all, I would like to know passport return process for voluntary departure for departure order. Does CBSA give passport directly to the person at Canada airport or to the airline ?
Please share if you have experienced that situation. Since i have a dependent accompanied, I’m really worried about my passport return process.

Whether CBSA returns your passport or gives it to the airline depends on the situation, airline, whether you are on a direct flight, etc. For voluntary departures if you have always been cooperative with IRCC most likely you will be given your passport or you can ask if it would be possible when you meet with CBSA at the airport.
