Dependent Child Outside Canada – Timeline After Biometrics and Updated Forms

Hello everyone,

I am looking for experiences from anyone who has had a dependent minor child processed outside Canada as part of a protected person/refugee permanent residence application.

The situation is as follows:

• Parents are in Canada and their PR
• The dependent MINOR child is outside Canada and has a separate UCI and application number.
• Biometrics have already been completed.
• The visa office recently requested updated forms and identity documents, including IMM 0008, IMM 5406, IMM 5562 and a national ID document.
• The requested documents have been submitted and IRCC confirmed that the information was forwarded to the responsible office.

My questions are:

1. What are the usual remaining steps for a minor dependent after biometrics and submission of updated forms?
2. Is a medical examination typically requested at this stage if one has not already been completed?
3. How long did it take in your case from submitting the requested forms/documents to passport request, COPR or final approval?

I would appreciate hearing about recent timelines and experiences from anyone who has gone through a similar process.

I have a minor dependent
Less that 14 which implies child can’t provide biometrics
I only got one correspondence from abroad office after I passed eligibility in march which was a request of these forms and proof of relationship and communication .
Got PR in April and till date radio silence
Even had my minor do an upfront medicals in may
Nothing yet
Frustrating how acount cannot be linked via Gckey and updates have to be requested via web form
Sent several web forms and only got a response last week which says ,
File is in process and waiting for final decision
Not sure how long this takes
I thought it would be quicker for a preschooler but hey .

how do you do an upfront medicals in may? Im sure they are also working hard to speed up. but not sure whats the next step though.

I just booked an appointment and had minor did the medicals upfront to avoid delays from when Medicals is requested to when you get an appointment to go do Medicals
I’m really hoping and praying my minor gets a passport request this summer and come over

Still i have a question. without the overseas mission request for an medical report, how can you do one? is that possible?

Yeah it’s possible
Just book an appointment with the panel physician go with passport and UCI number
Tell them you want to do Medicals upfront for a pr application
Yes they will do it and send to IRCC
And send you and e sheet
Then you can upload via webform to IRCC
They will attach results to his file
