I received my Canadian Permanent Residence (COPR) on 27 June 2021, and my PR card was issued later in 2021. My current PR card is valid until 31 December 2026.

Due to personal circumstances, I have only been physically present in Canada for 444 days within the last five years.

I am now planning to return to Canada around August 2026 and would appreciate some guidance regarding my situation. Specifically, I would like to understand:

• Whether I may face any issues at immigration upon arrival

• Whether I will be allowed to re-enter Canada with my current valid PR card

• If there are any additional documents I should carry while travelling

• What I should be prepared for during the entry process

. Renewal of my PR card

I would be grateful for any valuable advice or insights so that I can plan my travel properly.

Please advice.

Thank you in advance.

You will be allowed in because your PR card is valid so may be asked no questions. Once you enter don't leave until you meet RO to extend PR.

Your 5 year period ends in June so you may have less than 444 days within Canada within the 5 year period when you enter Canada in August. As mentioned you will be able to enter Canada but you could be reported for not being complaint with your RO. If you remained outside Canada for a reason that may fall under humanitarian or compassionate I would travel with proof of that. If reported your case will be reviewed to see if you can retain your PR status or not. That process may take 1-2 years and time in Canada during that period may not count towards your RO. As already mentioned plan to remain in Canada even if not reported until you become compliant with your RO. If you did obtain a health card you will need to apply again even if your health card even Ithe one you have is still valid unless you have spent significant time in Canada in the past year.
