178 days since i applied for SOWP (Inland Sponsor PR application). No update yet, only criminality is completed

Hi Guys, wanted to ask if there is anyone who is also in this situation.

Applied for OWP in November 12 2025, after receiving AOR for spousal inland sponsorship in October 2025. Since then i requested for gcms notes and only criminality is complete. Info sharing is in progress and the rest (eligibility, etc) have not started. Got confirmation from an IRCC agent yesterday that this is still the situation on my file, and I wonder what exactly the issue is.

Sponsor: Canadian PR Holder
Marital Status: Married with twins born in December
Status: I am currently on a visiting visa, and I have asked for an extension of my stay past six months in order to take care of my kids.
I have reached out to my MP, who says i should wait as this is still within the normal processing times.

My PR application as well has received no update since my sponsor received the AOR in October 2025. Info sharing is still in progress with nothing else started, after eight months.

I am really sorry to hear that the application is taking such a long time.
I applied for the OWP on March 31st, after receiving the AOR for the spousal sponsorship application submitted on February 5th, 2026. My wife entered Canada on an eTA back in November 2025.
I was under the impression that IRCC would process initial OWP applications faster than the average work permit processing times mentioned on the website.

SWOP and other Work permits are processed like any other WP.
Currently processing time is 217 days.

This is fairly normal processing time. What country are you from? There are certainly some countries where processing is much longer. What is your immigration history in Canada if you had twins in Canada on December which is typically considered a high risk pregnancy so flight restrictions and you also may not have had health coverage.
