Hi,

I received a medical request yesterday for my Inland Spousal PR application (AOR June 2025). However, my passport is currently with my country’s consulate for renewal, and my old passport is also with them.

At the moment, I am unsure how long the renewal process will take, but the medical examination must be completed within 30 days.

Should I proceed with the immigration medical exam assuming that other valid government-issued IDs will be accepted?

Also, once I receive my new passport, can I then submit a webform to IRCC to update my application with the new passport details?

Thank you.

You should still try to complete the medical exam within the 30-day deadline, since delays can affect processing. Many panel physicians may accept other valid government-issued IDs, so it’s best to contact the clinic beforehand and explain your passport renewal situation.

Once you receive the new passport, you can definitely submit a web form to IRCC to update your application with the new passport details. Hope your renewal arrives quickly and everything goes smoothly!

In most cases you should proceed with the immigration medical exam rather than wait for the passport renewal, especially since the medical request has a strict 30-day deadline.
IRCC immigration medical exam, panel physicians generally prefer a passport, but they can often accept other valid government-issued photo ID if your passport is temporarily unavailable. Examples may include;
* ID card
* driver’s license
* PR/work/study permit
* other official photo identification

The key point is that the physician must be able to verify your identity and match it to your IRCC medical request. Any way before your appointment
* Contact the panel physician clinic directly, explain them of your situation, if they what alternate IDs they will accept.
