Congratulations!! how do we know certificate is ready to download, do we get any email for this?

Thanks! Yes — IRCC usually sends an email between 24–72 hours explaining the process. But you don’t need to wait for that email. You can register in advance.

About a week before your citizenship oath, do the following:

1. Go to the IRCC portal registration page:
https://ircc.canada.ca/visit-visiter/en/get-account-ircc-portal

Enter your email, and you’ll receive an invitation code.

2. Once you have the invitation code, sign up here:
https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signup?lang=en

3. After signing in, you’ll see the option “Download Citizenship e‑Certificate.”

After your oath ceremony:

Once you’ve completed the oath and sent back the signed form (for virtual ceremonies), wait a few hours and then try the download link. Enter your UCI, Application Number, and Date of Birth.

• If it’s not ready, the system will tell you to wait 2–5 days.
• Keep checking every 12 hours.
• Most people can download it within 24–48 hours, often before IRCC sends the official email.
• For example, mine was available in under 2 hours, but the email arrived a full day later.

Hope this helps!

I received my email on March 27. Depending on the visa office handling your oath, the invitation email is usually sent 7–14 days before the ceremony. You should get yours this week. Make sure to check your spam folder as well.

Congratulations, and all the best!

Hello everyone,

Applied in Aug 29th but they needed clarification about a letter we included and ended up submitting it same day Nov 12. PR is expired now and travelling mid June 2026. Should we renew the PR or take the risk?

It is so close that I wouldn't risk it. Then again, what is the processing time for a new PR Card? Would you even get it in time?

If your travel outside Canada in June 2026 is "a must", then obviously don't travel without a valid PR card in hand, PRTD is one option, but I wouldn't advise going that route. PR renewal is 25 to 30 days (26 days at present), and in the PR renewal application, you also have urgent option like "Yes, my request is urgent" - here is the link , in which you get your PR card sooner upon submitting a request, based on the information provided in the renewal application.

But before going that route, I would suggest calling IRCC sometime this week (or next) asking when you can expect Oath Date? is it any time soon? Do mention your travel plans / PR status and see what the agent has to say and then make a decision.
