Officially Canadian today!

I'm awaiting my OHIP with my new last name so I can apply for the Canadian passport!

Hi there, thank you hehe

No, I don't change my name, I only take my husband's last name and I want my new passport with my new last name (It's actually my last name-my husband's last name) We got married last year after I submitted my application.

I will need an ID with my new last name in order to apply for my passport (together with my marriage certificate, citizenship certificate, application form)

After I saw the due date (September 2026) for my LPP on the GCMS notes, I decided to check my tracker once a week, so I don't get disappointed every morning

I got an oath invite on my tracker on march 7th for the oath date of April 27th. It’s so far away. Does anyone else have a date for more than a month away ?

No update after citizenship test was given on 3rd Jan (Updated in tracker - 24th Jan)

Travel plans got impacted right now, as I presumed citizenship will be straightforward. Presumptions got shattered and how!

Hm, I don't know. I just know that yes, it can take that long to get to your oath. But congratulations hehe, one more month!

Yeah I hear y’all. It’s definitely upsetting and totally terrible process. As if we don’t have our life plans and things we have to do(family needs to travel, work related stuff etc.), could’ve been very streamlined and straightforward process, but as always with government, it is just a bureaucratic mess. The timeline span is absolutely ridiculous. Like you try to figure out something with an ircc agent and they say your application is within the timeline it still has 4 months… How is this helpful information?

Just can’t figure out if I can go visit my grandma and my family this summer or not. Tickets are super expensive already and the time to buy them is now, but then If I need to go back and buy tickets with short notice they will be basically double or triple of price considering it will be also a summer with peak traveling. My grandma is old and might die any time, would be sad if I don’t catch up with her before that. I guess the solution here is just to go and be ready to pay the premium. Anyway it is just me venting out here.

Bro do not stress, you will 100% get citizenship one day, it will come. But what will not come is time that has been passed, so please visit your family, if you get oath in the meanwhile they will reschedule it when you come back.
