Hi all,

I applied for a citizenship grant application on November 26th, 2024. I've been a permanent resident (with valid card) since 2017 and fulfilled the presence requirements in Canada. I applied online and still haven't received an AOR. There's no associated application number or further communication from IRCC, and when I contact them, they say they can’t do anything until I receive an AOR. I’ve checked my email, including spam, and see nothing, and the status website shows my application as having been submitted. I’m certain my application was complete upon submission.

Has anyone else been in a situation like this? There doesn’t seem to be many examples online of others who have had to wait 5+ months for their AOR.

Thanks!

It is not normal. You should call IRCC. Right now March 2025 applicants are getting AOR. On call you will need the UCI number which is the same as on your PR.

Thanks BienCanada, appreciate it. Do you know where I can find their phone number? I don't see anything on their website specifically related to Citizenship applications.

Call ‭(888) 242-2100‬

Wait for intro to finish

Press 1 to enter your UCI

Enter your UCI and press #

Press 1 to confirm your UCI

Press 3, then 4, and then 0. Wait for the automated voice messages to complete before pressing these numbers.

I applied in July 2023 but didn't get my AOR until early Jan 2024.....

Had the same issue and IRCC kept saying they cannot provide details until AOR is received so I just waited

Thank you everyone. I gave them a call and they said my application wasn't even in their database, despite me getting a confirmation email from them that my application was submitted. There must have been some sort of bug on their side (maybe with the new online application process?).

Good luck with your application process @haveagoodday

Had the same issue but they eventually found my application in their system after 3 weeks.
Do you have to resubmit?

sorry to hear that, did you have to resubmit your application?

If the application is in their system and you can connect to the tracker, no need, but do make sure that not receiving the AOR was a bug on IRCC's side and not something your mail put in the spam folder or deleted automatically. You don't wanna miss the test or oath emails.

I don't know if I'll have to resubmit yet - the support person said it was really weird and that they'd have look into it and get back to me in a couple weeks. From what I understand, they could see that the application was submitted on their end, but they didn't know why an AOR wasn't sent out.

Thanks Seym, I've been checking spam and unfortunately nothing's in there.

Hi, just wanted to check in. Did you end up receiving your AOR after your follow ups? Where are you at in the citizenship process? I’m in the same situation and it’s been almost four months now.

There is a possibility they haven't got to it yet and that you just will get a slightly delayed AOR.
However, at 4 months, and assuming you've already checked all your inboxes/spam/junk email etc. thoroughly and couldn't find the AOR email, it's time to do some detective work !

Have you called them and asked about it ? - what did they say ?
(See post above with the # to call)

If they say they have it in the system and it's being processed, then it means you have the same missing AOR email situation :
  • In this case, i believe you can ask them for your application # (starts with a C) on the phone call (since that's usually on the AOR email and you need that to create your tracker acct.)
  • Then try to create the tracker (https://tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/register) and if you manage to do that, then you can see progress updates. If it's moving along then it's good news and bad news, but narrows down the issue.
  • Next part is to figure out the missing email situation, because you definitely don't want the same to happen with Test invite email and Oath invite (as @Seym said above) down the line :
    • If your application has actually been moving along all this while, then you need to double/triple-check your inbox/spam/junk/all folders to see where you missed the AOR email (I wouldn't wanna go about blaming IRCC if the miss was on your end :P). If you're 100 % sure you never received it, then,
    • Confirm you have the right email address on file with IRCC on the call.
    • If that is also good and it's some kind of system glitch where you just didn't get the AOR email for an unkown reason. Then I guess you ask IRCC what you should do if the same thing happens for future emails like the Test etc.

If they say they can't see the application at all :
  • In this case, then it means something went wrong during the submission process and you might have to double check the submission confirmation email and ask IRCC if you need to re submit / what can be done / next steps etc.

If they can see the submission but have not issued AOR yet :
  • All's good. Just wait for your turn (even if slightly delayed)

Hope you can figure it out, Good Luck !

Hi @sodapop123
Thank you very much for your response. I received the AOR a couple of days ago, so I hope things are moving forward now.
