Hi, I am trying to sponsor my wife for inland sponsorship, they received our application Oct 04 2025, still no AOR.

Her eTA I guess implies she could only be in Canada till Dec 06, 2025. So I applied for a visitor record back in August still no result as well. My question is: Can she apply for an Open Work Permit? Her eTA is valid for 5 years, but she was supposed to leave 6 months upon arrival, now she is on implied status thanks to the visitor record application.

Has anyone tried applying for OWP under similar circumstances? Thanks for reading, appreciate the replies.

She is out of status right now. She needs to wait for AIP to apply for a work permit.
She is not out of status. She has maintained status as a result of the visitor record application that is still pending.

You are right, I did not pay attention for this detail.

Why did not added the OWP application together with the family sponsorship application? They start to process the work permit automatically after AOR.

Hey. Just curious! how did you confirm that IRCC received your application on October 4th when you mentioned "they received our application Oct 04 2025,"?

Was that simply the day you hit 'submit,' or did you (the sponsor) actually receive an email confirmation from them? Usually, that formal email to the sponsor is considered the AOR (Acknowledgment of Receipt).
