Hello everyone,
I need your advice regarding a mistake in my Express Entry profile.

When I first created my profile, someone helped me fill it out and mistakenly indicated that I was married. In reality, I am single. Unfortunately, I only noticed this error after I had already received my Invitation to Apply (ITA).

As soon as I realized the mistake, I corrected my marital status in my permanent residence application and I also submitted a webform to IRCC explaining the situation. In my letter, I clarified that the error was made by a third party, not intentionally by me, and I am ready to provide official proof (birth certificate, certificate of single status, etc.) to confirm that I am single.

My concern is whether IRCC will consider this as misrepresentation and refuse my application, even though my CRS score as a single applicant is actually higher than as married. I had no benefit from this mistake, and I am trying to be transparent.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? Did IRCC accept the correction with explanation and proof, or did they refuse the application?

Thank you for your help and advice.

You are okay. You addressed it timely and properly so no issue.
Hello, I would like to confirm something. I received an Invitation to Apply but I declined it because my marital status was entered incorrectly. I have now corrected my profile to show that I am single. Will this correction affect my chances of receiving a new invitation, or is it fine to wait for the next draw?

There was no need to decline it. You have to wait for a new ITA, and no impact whatsoever.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I just want to clarify that I have not yet declined the ITA. Could you please advise me on the correct steps to follow so that I don’t risk a refusal when I submit my application?

Apply using the invitation. Somewhere in the package include short letter of explanation that there was previously an error in your online profile and that you had taken the steps you mention above. Again, short.

Exactly, short and right to the point. better nothing than include some lengthy explanation.
