My girlfriend of 5 years+ is in Canada and I’m looking to move to Canada with the goal of marrying her and becoming a citizen. It’s my understanding that she could sponsor me though I wouldn’t be able to work in Canada or that I get a work visa and hopefully that leads to permanent residence, then citizenship.

Any recommendations on which route is the fastest, least resistant, and more likely path to success?

Is she Canadian? Are you even in Canada? Not such things as a spousal visa. Once married, she can sponsor your for PR. Once PR you can work. You get a work permit depending on if you have job offer with LMIA or depending on age and citizenship.

Have you ever lived together for one continuous year? Was this declared on any immigration paperwork your gf submitted? What type of permit is your GF on? What NOCdoes she work in and if a WP when does it expire?
