Hi,

I need clarification about choosing the correct NOC.

My job title is Sales Consultant, but the work I actually do matches NOC 62010 – Retail Sales Supervisor. I handle things like supporting new staff, managing store tasks, dealing with escalated customer issues, and maintaining store standards.

Since NOC is based on duties, not the title, I want to confirm if choosing NOC 62010 is correct in my case.

Thank you.

If your duties match like you hire and train new staff, do work schedules, performance reviews then yes.

Thanks for sharing this. Your point about focusing on whether the actual duties match the NOC is exactly what I’m trying to understand.

My situation is slightly different. I was refused because the officer said my DWP Work Coach role matches NOC 41321 rather than NOC 42201, which is what I claimed.

I think the reasoning may be because both roles are career/employment related. However, my role also focuses heavily on the client’s social needs, assessing their circumstances and referring them to other agencies/services to address those barriers and help them get back on their feet before moving towards employment.

The alternative NOC the officer identified also appears to involve things like creating CVs and providing skills training, which are not duties I perform in my role.

Given your experience with a similar NOC issue, do you have any thoughts on why the officer might have classified my role this way? I’m trying to understand the reasoning so I can properly address it.
