Has anyone been stuck in Prohibitions and language skills for more than 2 years ?

App sent Aug 01, 2023
AOR Sep 07 2023
BG Completed Sep 20 2023
Citizenship test Invite Sep 27 2023
Test Passed Oct 16 2023
Physical presence completed Sep 10 2024
Silence ....

I don't think any of Dec 2023 applicants who are in security screening pool has made it through. We have seen some August applicants made it recently. I am October applicant, AOR November 1, 2023 and still stuck in background and prohibition.
Thanks

A friend of mine is stuck in prohibition. His AOR April 2024.

so it always follow the month wise clearance? I mean first come first served from the queue

Not necessarily. Citizenship applications can generally be grouped into two categories: routine and non-routine. If you are lucky enough to fall under the routine category, your application will be finalized within a few months. However, if you are among the less fortunate applicants, like most of us in this thread, processing times vary, but they typically take at least 24-30 months.

Think of it this way: among all non-routine applicants, the majority will be finalized within 24–36 months. There is a smaller subset of non-routine cases that are considered “more complicated,” and those can take much longer than the average. I’ve seen cases still waiting since 2017, but those are rare (likely only a few hundred applicants).

I hope this helps, and good luck with your application. My AOR is November 2023, and I expect my application to be concluded around Spring 2026, but that’s just my own expectation and hope.

Thank you for such an elaborative response. One more question is it normal not to ask FP for such cases or not ask anything at all during this period? I have not been asked anything at all and last update was Aug 2024.

Generally speaking, non-routine applicants are often asked to provide fingerprints. I have also heard of applicants being asked for proof of language or being invited to interviews. However, this is not always the case, sometimes you may not be asked for any additional documents at all. We even have applicants in this thread who were never asked for anything, although that is less common.

Let me give you an example from my own application. I was asked for fingerprints in November 2023. Fingerprints are valid for one year, so mine expired over two years ago. They have not asked me to submit new fingerprints, whereas many applicants who applied around the same time as I did have been asked to submit fingerprints two or three times, and they are still stuck in the process. I was also asked to submit scanned and translated copies of all my passports, while only a few applicants receive that request.

What I want to highlight is that every application is different and unique, so it’s difficult to compare your case with someone else’s. That said, it is more common for applicants in the non-routine category to be asked for fingerprints.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your application.

Thank you again, I personally feel it is due my name being so common.

Congrats. When did they invite for Oath? Aren’t you worried that rescheduling may further delay it?

Can you pls share your complete timeline including any FP requests you may had.

Anyway, goodluck and hope you get done with it soon!

You could have opted for same day passport if you had valid travel plans, anyway good luck.
