Hello everyone, My friend wants to visit Canada with his family, and all three kids are under 18. So, do I need to send separate invitations for each of them, or will one invitation for the whole family be enough?

Thanks

Just one. Outline their itinerary and that they will cover all their expenses. Invitation letter from a friend is the least important documents.

Hi,

I visited Canada three times between 2019 and 2024, and my visa has now expired. I have started filling out a new application. Since I have also visited the U.S. many times in the last 10 years, and my U.S. visa is still valid for another four years, the system is only asking for the following three main documents:
  • Valid U.S. visa
  • Passport scan
  • National ID card (I am from Pakistan)

Under Additional Documents, it shows:
  • Employer Letter (not applicable)
  • Consent form (not applicable)
  • Additional document (adding sibling proof, old Canada/USA and other visa)

My question is: Do I need to attach an invitation letter, or is it not mandatory under the “Additional Documents” section? Previously, my brother sent me an invitation letter when I applied for the first time, but I’m not sure if it is required now.

Thanks

Hello @nmatter

I am just applying for my sister and nephew to come visit me in Canada for 2 weeks. They will be in the US soon and I'll submit application only after they land in U.S. When I do their online application, it requests only basic documents like their US visa, passport and CNIC which we have uploaded. Should all supporting documents for both myself and the applicant (e.g., invitation letter, employment documents, bank statements) uploaded under “additional documents”?

Can you confirm if they need to fill that PDF application form, Family information form and photos or they are not required?

Thanks,

They should have really applied from their home country. Applying from a 3rd country weakens their application. How long will they be in the US? You can include supporting documentation but approval will be primarily based on the family’s own documentation not yours.

Hi

I submitted my application through the IRCC portal listed below and uploaded only the mandatory documents that were specifically requested during the application process. I did not provide any additional supporting documents beyond the required checklist. My application was reviewed and subsequently approved without any issues.

It may also be relevant to note that I have previously held both Canadian and U.S. visas and have traveled to both countries multiple times. In addition, I currently hold a valid U.S. visa. This prior travel history and compliance with immigration requirements may have contributed positively to the assessment of my application.

The same application approach was also followed for my brother and his family. They likewise submitted only the mandatory documents requested through the IRCC portal and did not provide any additional supporting documentation. Their applications were also approved successfully.

The only difference is that we applied from home country (and you applying from outisde home country)
