Suggestion on Applying Visitor Visa to stay in Canada for PR

Hello Everyone,
Asking on behalf of someone.
My work permit is going to end in Feb 2026 and my CRS score will be around 520. I am thinking to apply for visitor visa to have a little bit extension of staying in Canada and hoping to get into the draw which meets with my CRS score.
Could you please sugguest if this is a good option to explore? When should i apply for visitor visa? Should i apply rightnow in order to get response as soon as possible.
Also, should i clearly mention everything for my intention to stay in Canada little bit longer for PR purposes in Statement of purpose?
I would really appreciate if i get some guidance regarding this.

If you want to stay in Canada, you need a visitor record, not a visitor visa. Record lets you maintain status and stay in Canada.

Show reasons to stay and cash in the bank since you cannot work. What do you mean by stay in Canada for PR purposes? You are changing status to visitor. So maybe better argument is to get affairs in order to leave Canada. You don't need to stay in Canada while waiting for ITA. Yes, VR can be refused or given a short amount of time allowed to stay.

Is there is no other way to extend the stay in Canada while waiting for ITA. Apologies if asking stupid question, it is just trying to explore options for my friend and try to help him without going back to his country.

The only way to stay in Canada with status is visitor record. So he applies and waits for approval or refusal. If refused or given a specific date to leave then he leaves.
