Hey everyone,

For those of you who finally got your PR approved after months (or years) of waiting, how did you celebrate?
Did you take a trip, have a special dinner, buy something meaningful, or just take a moment to breathe and let the relief sink in?

I’m curious how others marked the moment after such a long and stressful process, and how much your lives have changed. Looking for ideas and also just excited to hear your stories

I had one of the longest and hardest PR journeys, from being scammed by immigration consultants, with no application submitted for two years while he lied to me. I received multiple removal orders, was locked up in detention, and got bail. The CBSA searched for me to deport me, but I finally got approved in September. I can tell you, I have no celebration. I have been in this limbo since 2018, and it sucks. Congrats to everyone else and all who are still waiting; keep fighting, but personally, I feel like this battle was too drawn out, so there's no celebration at all.

My journey was not as long as many others, but oh boy…the anxiety was real. When I did not get P1 and spent weeks waiting for it, I became a full-time email refresher. I did the KAI method, and the wait for P2 almost broke me. Checking my email every hour turned me into a nervous wreck. I couldn't help it, man.

When I finally got approved, I celebrated in the simplest way: I went to my favourite restaurant in Toronto with my husband and his family. The same place that made me fall in love with this city all over again. And for the first time in months, I slept peacefully knowing I could finally stay here with my husband without refreshing my inbox every few minutes. Oh, and I went back to Thailand to see my family after a year and a half!

Now that I am on the other side, I try to be present on this forum and another platform (especially for Thai applicants) to answer anything I can about the PR process or anything along the way, because I know exactly how it feels to be lost, anxious, and just wanting to reunite with the person you love.

Congratulations to everyone who has received their PR, and sending lots of love and support to those still waiting or just beginning the journey. You are not alone.

Oh my that sounds awful I'm sorry to hear that and I'm glad you received it. Were you able to check PR tracker at all during the 'fake' application? That's definitely eye opening! Thank you for sharing

During 2020 to 2023, when I was under the impression that there was an application in for me, I didn't check any tracker because, at that time, I had no login information nor did I know about the tracker. I kept calling my representative at the time to ask what was happening, but he kept saying that because I submitted in 2020, all files from that year were backed up. This person was referred to me by my family, so I had high regards for him and trusted him too much, only to find out he lied to me. To God be the glory, now those days are finally behind me; that guy had me running and hiding from CBSA, it was crazy.

When my file was finally approved the IRCC agent actually called me personally and told me she saw everything that had happened with my filing and I should report the representative which I did to the college of immigration. But it was a dramatic limbo for me, last step was IRCC requested interview after my second PFL, once I responded they reached out and cancelled my interview and gave me final approval.

I can't imagine what that would have been like especially during the pandemic. I'm so glad to hear you got approved and the IRCC were on your side. Your patience and determination are honestly inspiring.
