Good point, I went back and checked and I had just imagined that bit - I read 'attend' as meaning in-person, but of course it could mean attending a virtual ceremony. Edited my post.

I am waiting for the email too, ceremony's on the same day (3rd Nov), hope we will get it this coming week

The standard statement you will be told at the ceremony is that you must wait 2-3 business days.

That said: no harm in trying but if you apply right away for passport, you could be told to wait. I believe the only delay is for the staff to input (confirm) that oath was administered, i.e. for systems to update. Sometimes these warnings are 'old' and don't reflect actual practices in computer age (where big systems no longer do updates overnight). But sometimes it is a real thing.

Given that the actual events and tracker updates happen two days apart so often, you never know whats batched and whats not on the backend.

Yes. Honestly I suspect it's primarily to give staff time to update the info, but only guesses.

Anyway - IRCC does say it takes them a few days for the certificate to be valid for purposes of applying for a passport. If one wants to try, it's fine, but it may not work.

Hi everybody, I have an online oath ceremony scheduled on 14th February. I submitted an online application. I received an email regarding oath ceremony details and instructions but I haven't received email with instructions to download e-certificate. I am aware that we can not download the certificate until after the oath but I have seen people receiving e-certificate email before the oath ceremony with all the instructions and an invite code to create an IRCC Portal Account. Should I contact IRCC regarding this or should I wait till the oath day and ask the officer after the oath? Can...

Done with virtual Ceremony, was able to download e-certificates for me and accompanying minor child (under 14 years).

I just created the account myself : https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signin?lang=en (I think folks were able to download the certificated immediately they were done with the ceremony), Ceremony started as scheduled at 8:30AM EST and I was out of the session by 9:50AM EST today.I downloaded certificates at 11AM EST today . The clerk in our ceremony said that they are not going to send physical certicates for sometime as Canada Post is not working and they would provide e-certificate only.

Great. That was fast. Did you ask them to expedite issuance of e- certificate at any point during the ceremony?
