But it takes them 2 years to pull your file and run the SS. Again, very sad and unfair, but the lack of accountability makes people do more than this.

It is the world of inefficiency and lack of accountability. Technically SS takes minutes by running someone name and history against multiple databases. But it takes them 2 years to pull your file and run the SS. Again, very sad and unfair, but the lack of accountability makes people do more than this.
on top of that applicant pays over 500$ to process the application.
The issue here is that the database CSIS needs is often unavailable to them. Most folks stuck in SS come from countries with, at best, so-so diplomatic relations and cooperation with Canada. Whether applicant X is hiding something in, say, China, Venezuela or Iran isn't as straightforward as figuring out the same for an Australian.
But yeah, the application mostly sleeps at CSIS level with no traction whatsoever, and not a single check for months, and in all cases, every single citizenship application is a very low priority issue to them. At the end of the day, a PR already has the right to be here, and being a citizen doesn't change much to the security threat the individual is to Canada, so, who cares really, except said individual and their family, the resources are better spent elsewhere, so dust keeps gathering...
another example of a broken system. I provided a no criminal report from last country of residence but it seems that is not enough. Funny thing my family cases did not take that long.
I would love to know if there is any updates from any applications from 2023. If the majority of January to June 2023 are done, that is a good sign.
It absolutely is broken, but there's unfortunately no incentive to fix it at all. If anything, we're at a point where government will make things harder instead of more efficient, just like biometrics being necessary for every single applicant starting next year or the one after...
If ur background/security is green, I think MP office can help expediting the oath scheduling.
Can you share the progress of each category. I.e., knowledge, language, background, prohibition etc.
Couldn't agree more, but last time I talked about accountability and transparency I got pages and pages of essays, so I am not going there anymore.
On the topic though, I think the online tracker is just trash. It doesn't actually tell the applicant anything. A proper tracker shall give more details and estimated timelines on certain things.
Good question. Most people go through security in PR, but that does not mean it is done once and that is all. SS is valid at the time it was done, if someone pass ss at one stage it does not mean they will pass it after 5 years as things change. For example, in gov. they continuously do ss for their employees, even you pass it when you were initially hired. For citizenship, I believe mostly officer decide to put you through ss or not depends on their judgment and they may have some sort of guideline.
On the surface your timeline sound eerily similar to mine. I am interested to know more details on the timeline as well.

I got my PR smoothly, "Covid Time" normal delays, I don't remember really getting stuck.
Look at me now, passing my 2-year mark in a month. I easily need 6-12 months for the rest of the process...
