Thanks, this is very strange. I called IRCC but they said I’m in the second stage of the background check and my application is routine.

Could mean that they initialized a security clearance on a random basis but not a comprehensive check. Either way I requested CBSA notes to find out.

The idea that one family member needs check but others do not is complete crazy. I hope it’s just an accidental slowdown for all of us.

It's not done yet as I reported above.
Seems very random and could be bad luck they picked us for a random check. In my case it could be because I changed addresses too frequently (I’m a university student). Either way I try to not speculate and just wait for the ATIP.

Also called the agent, and they told be the same, since the processing time has not reached 11 months the application is considered routine (though in fact routine applications take 5-7 months).
I will probably order the notes in a month or so if there will be no progress.

The situation is beyond my understanding because I have minimal travel history and no personal changes since becoming PR.

Ahh ok. Applicants with FP request sometimes just got the BG done within a month, but there are many examples of security being the last one to be done and taking around 18-24 months. Currently the agent said it's still normal and not non routine. I didn't request any notes yet. I'm going to just wait it out till end of year and if BG doesn't progress by then, will probably request it in Jan.. hopefully everything falls in place by then.

Btw did many May applicants get FP request in general?

Application submittedApril 25
Application returnedMay 28; Reason - couldn't verify the days present as visitor
Application re-submittedMay 28; Submitted with same documents again proving the physical presence and strong LOE.
AORJune 26; called IRCC to fix the name on AOR, they missed the last name.
Tracker inviteJuly 3
Fingerprint RequestJuly 11; (My guess - Got this probably because there's a difference in her name after she entered Canada. She didn't have a last name in the documents when she entered Canada and we added it later and updated her PR and all documents as well few years ago, so I read somewhere that this usually triggers a FP request in Citizenship application)
Fingerprint SubmissionJuly 11
Webform submitted FP proofJuly 15
Ghost update in trackerJuly 16
Ghost UpdateAug 13; Called IRCC - criminality check completed
Sept 22; Called IRCC to check status, BG (security part) still in progress; no other updates
Citizenship Test IP in trackerSept 19
Citizenship Test invitation emailSept 26. Window Sept 26-Oct 26. Received from IRCC.CODTestingTeam3-DOCExamensEquipe3.IRCC@cic.gc.ca

This is my wife's application. Couple of questions - 1) Do you think BG will take a lot more time than usual? I know that the official timeline for application is 11 months. But I read somewhere that it can take 18-24 months especially because of the Security screening part.
2) Based on the test email above, which office is this coming from?

Bumping this up to see if someone could answer my Q1 and Q2.

Also, any link to whatsapp group for May applicants will be helpful. Thanks!

I have zero international travel history in the past 10 years, it’s probably completely random.

As far as I am aware FP request is only for criminality (they want to root out the possibility the applicant committed an indictable offense). Some people simply clear it without needing FP. That seems to be the first stage of background.

Then if you never got FP but are otherwise in process, it could be that your criminality check has already passed, and they are just lazy or working on CBSA/CSIS stuff. It seems like the latter can happen even if there is no red flag for whatever purposes, and for most people they just automatically pass (?)

My advise take the word or IRCC agents with a grain of salt. Few of them are frustrated souls. During my PR stage, I called them and a lady told me that i should give up hope and that my application would take another year. But alas after one month i got the Approval.

During my Citizenship, none of the agents i met answered my questions properly all i got is don't you have access to tracker? What can provide whats not there in the tracker.

May be my luck... but if you really want to find out about your application then order AITP notes paying 5 bucks. Its worth while and surprisingly for the citizenship it came within 2 weeks for PR it took a year or so.

I applied for my citizenship in August 2023
Received AOR October 2023
Passed Citizenship Test November 2023
Fingerprints provided NOV 2023
everything shows completed on PR tracker July 2024
Since then no update
Background and prohibitions are in progress
I call IRCC and every month and all they tell me is your criminality is completed and SS is in progress
Its been 2 years and 2 months since i submitted my applications
Anyone who submitted around the same time line?
