Hi I got invitation this week and I was planning to travel to my home country next month for my brother’s wedding. So I have some doubts,
- if I get a medical request, is it okay to get it done from my country?
-I have already got my pcc so do I need to get a new pcc after I come back?
- I have already done my biometric too and it was 6months back do I need to do that again?

Please share some of the information that you know. Please and Thank you!

1.Medical Request
Yes — you can do your Immigration Medical Exam (IME) in your home country, but it must be done by an IRCC-approved panel physician.
You can find the list of approved doctors here: IRCC Panel Physicians.
As long as you choose someone from that list, it doesn’t matter which country you’re in when you complete it.

2. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
If you’ve already obtained your PCC and it was issued after your last stay of 6+ months in that country, it usually remains valid for your application, even if you travel briefly now.
  • IRCC typically requires a PCC from every country you’ve lived in for 6 months or more (in a row) since the age of 18.
  • Short visits (like for a wedding) usually don’t trigger the need for a new PCC.But if your stay abroad extends and you end up living there again for 6+ months, then you’ll need a fresh PCC from that country.3. BiometricsBiometrics are valid for 10 years.
  • Since you gave yours 6 months ago, you do not need to give them again for this application.
Summary:
Yes, you can do medicals in your home country (must be a panel physician).
  • No new PCC is required just for a short visit.
  • Biometrics are already done and valid for 10 years.

Thanks for sharing this, Miss bee. I didn’t know that the medical exam can be done in your home country as long as it’s with a panel physician that’s really helpful. Also good to learn that biometrics are valid for 10 years and that a short trip doesn’t automatically mean needing a new PCC. This clears up a lot of confusion for me. Appreciate the detailed explanation!
