Hello! My criminal charge was withdrawn and fingerprints and photos are already destroyed. I have pending PR application under cec and waiting for decision. Background check is still on process. Is there anyone here who are on the same boat and eventualy their PR application was approved? My application is running 5 mos.

Hi congrats on getting PR! Did they ask you to submit the court documents or you submitted voluntarily. Have you ever tried to order notes from IRCC to see the progress of the background check? Thanks!!

If your file is in process along with a withdrawn criminal charges then you have to voluntary submit all the documents,
And if you apply for notes their is not alot of information and hard to understand but sometimes requesting notes help to push file if their is no update for long time at last ircc asked for the additional document a fingerprint-based criminal check from rcmp after that i got my Portal 1 request
But having a withdrawn charge delay the process timing

With my experience. VO requested A for my court documents related to the withdrawal of the charge on Feb 2024. Then again sent me a PFL for my HTA in the same monty. My case was from criminal charge to HTA. Then I requested for a gcms. The officer has no other concern about my charges but I was sent for comprehensive background check. Last april 30, 2025 VO requested for my police service way back in my home country. Then on Sept 16, 2025. Received medical request for the second time since 2023. Had medical before last nov 2023 and expired on November 2024. Hopefuly the security screening is done and will get Final decision soon.

Thank you for the advice! I called IRCC and they said the background check is at criminality check in progress. I think I’ll submit some additional documents then. It definitely delays, people submitted same time as me already got their p1. How long did it delay your application? Thanks.

Thanks. It’s taking you more than 2 years? From what I’ve seen the criminality check doesn’t directly lead to security screening and they two different, security screening does take longer for the case. Hope you get FD soon! I applied Aug 2024 and the VO hasn’t asked any additional documents from me yet, I only got request for permanent residence fee last month.
