My father enter Canada 2nd time in sept 2022 and no stamp was placed on his passport. I have been informed that he can stay for 5 years and at that time I checked cic website it says so. But today I checked it says different info. My father is still staying with me in Canada. Just confused what should be done to clarify this situation as I was planning to extend his stay coz his passport gonna expire next month.
Any advice plz

If arrived in September 2022 then he would qualify for an up to 5 year visit as long as he still qualifies and purchases supervisa insurance.

My dad came here under Supervisa last December 2022 and he got a stamp on his passport. He is require to apply for Visitor Record to extend his stay here while waiting for his approval for his PR under PGP together with my mom and brother who are still back home (currently undergoing additional xray for my mom). He only has until December 2025. If your father do not have the stamp, that is 5yrs.

Yes he donot have stamp on passport and I have also applied for his PGP this year. His passport and visa both are expiring end of this year. I also received his new passport so applying for his visa extension next week.
Thx

Just a note, it will give you 2 option, visitor visa permit and visitor record. This is what CIC provided me when I contacted them. I was told that visitor record applies mostly for parent under Supervisa as Visitor permit has more requirements.

He doesn’t need an extension if he remains in Canada and he doesn’t qualify for an extension. Also no such thing as a supervisa extension. He would have to return home to reapply for a new supervisa. He needs to apply for a visitor record before he reaches the 5 years visiting Canada if he would like to keep visiting on his supervisa. He would not need a valid supervisa to do so which is a travel document.

Ok
So I was thinking like my father passport and visa both gonna expire in 3 months. And he only have 3 years in canda so I donot need to apply for extending existing stay in Canada for 2 years more

That is not what the CIC or IRCC told me. I was instructed to apply him either Visitor Visa or Visitor Record to extend his stay here in Canada while waiting for the result for his permanent resident as the processing got delayed because it passed the processing time and his dependant which is my mom has to do more medical test back home requested by IRCC Panel Physician in Ottawa. He is the principal applicant. He will no longer under Super Visa once I applied him under Visitor Record. Unless he received is PR next month. He only has 3yrs by the way and it will expire this December so we are hoping to receive his PR next month but as the IRCC instruction, as the application is complex, it may take longer to make the final decision. SO that is why they suggested to apply either Visitor Visa or Visitor Record.

@chahalsatinder You also mention that your dad came September 2022? Here's the IRCC agent provided me when I contacted them through webform. Hope it will help. I was unable to screenshot the email so I just copied it.
COntact them if you are not sure.

The parent and grandparent super visa can allow eligible parents and grandparents to remain in Canada for an authorized period of up to two or five years on each entry, depending when you were last admitted into Canada.
However, if there is:
  • A stamp in your passport and a handwritten date, or
  • A Visitor Record was issued to you
It is important you leave the country on or before the date indicated on it.
  • A stamp in your passport, but no handwritten date,
  • No stamp in your passport, or
  • You did not require a passport to enter Canada
  • If you applied on or after June 22, 2023:
    • it is important that you leave the country five years from the date of your entry.
  • If you applied before June 22, 2023, and:
    • you entered Canada before June 22, 2023, it is important that you leave the country two years from the date of your entry.
    • you entered Canada on or after June 22, 2023, it is important that you leave the country five years from the date of your entry.

IRCC customer service is routinely wrong. If entered after July 2022 and no stamp in their passport they are currently eligible to visit for up to 5 years as long as they qualify and purchase supervisa insurance.

Your father got a stamp in his passport so entirely different situation. To try to extend his visit he must apply for a visitor record extension before the stamp date.

The incompetence is astounding. This should say July 2022 not 2023.
