Hello everyone, I have a question regarding PR renewal and residency obligation.

My PR card is valid until mid-October 2026, and so far I have only lived in Canada for about 11 months.

Now I need to travel to my country due to an emergency medical problem, for about 2–3 months.

Will I face any problems when returning to Canada, or later when I apply to renew my PR card, given that I won’t be able to meet the 730-day residency obligation by the time my current PR card expires?

You could potentially have problems on return, but with a valid card and living in Canada - probably will be okay.

Upon your return - just stay in Canada until you are in compliance before applying to renew.

How about sending a webform to IRCC and explaining my urgent situation before leaving the country?

does it make my situation less complicated on returning?
