I really want to clarify something,
When exactly does IRCC start counting your processing timeline in my case:


September 28 2022 application got recieved by IRCC.
Febuary 9 2023 application started processing.
Principal applicant got pr in April 2025.

in august 2025 In This email Accra visa office said we are now finalizing the assessment of your application, but they needed proof of relationship to finalize it and we submitted the next day.

Now September 2025, no news yet!!!
And we’ve not still done a biometric or medical.

If the PR in Canada only got PR in April 2025 it could be years until processing is completed unless part of the pilot program.

Are your dependents abroad? If so are they also protected people? Are you part of the pilot program?

Yes dependents are abroad, we are not currently in the pilot stream as our file is in Accra.

No!!! that’s not possible it doesn’t work like that unless there’s an issue it could exceed. The current processing time is 50 months and we are very close to that… you are tryna say the processing time is about 80 months and above that’s absurd.

wrong!!! haven’t seen any case like that, I don’t think you understand how this stream works.

For regular processing IRCC only starts processing overseas dependents files AFTER the principal applicant becomes a PR. Your dependents access to PR is based on your PR status, so until you are a PR your dependents file is not processed.

I am a protected person in Toronto and my partner lives in India (never been to Canada), she was on my application from day 1 as my common-law partner.

Here is my timeline:

Feb 2022 - Submitted PR application for both of us

Jan 2024 - PR granted to me

Feb 2024 - Confirmation my partners PR was sent to the local office (New Delhi)

Sep 2024 - Additional documents requested for my partner

Sep 2025 - Biometrics (partner)
