Hello,

I have passed CFA exams, can I mention it in "personal history" after ITA ?

I was advised to do so because it's considered as a favorable factor even if it doesn't add CRS points , as it will help to find a job, (according to the person who told me so .. there's nothing official stating that)

.... but I was working while taking the exams, so can I mention it and in the same time add my work experience overlapping with the same periode ??
did anyone with CFA, who already applied, included it in some way in the application ??

Thanks all for your inputs

If you received ITA then no need.
can we do it before receiving ITA ?

the person told me to do an explanation letter and add it to documents related to education when uploading files ... I don't know if I should have mentioned it before while creating my profile !!

In your EE profile, there is no need as it doesn't give you points or strengthen your profile.

thanks a lot for clarifying

I thought it would help in the overall application assessement, even if it doesnt add any points, as I was told

again, thanks a lot

Doesn't help. Your ITA is based on your CRS score alone.
Actually that was not what my friend meant ... as you said getting ITA is only based on CRS score, and CFA exams won't add points before or after ITA ... but according to him, if the agent knows that you have passed the exams, he would think that you will have more chances to find a job and will be able to quickly settle. Hence, it might help in the final decision for exp to accord you the PR.
my friend's rational is that there are other factors that enhance chances of getting PR, even it they don't add points, like having an aunt in Canada for instance.

But I still don't know how or where to mention it even if I want to ... maybe it will just create more confusion if I do so

So that has nothing to do with your EE profile or getting PR. It doesn't expedite anything. It has to do with your CV/resume.

Would mention it in personal history because it good evidence for NOC selection. FYI an aunt in Canada would not help your PR application unless you were given family points.

Really !! but how can I mention it ?

you know it's not full time studies, I was giving the exams while working as it's the case for most candidates. if I have work experience overlapping with the period of I took the exams, won't that be a problem ?

for the aunt case , I know it adds no points ... that friend told me, agents consider that having a family member in Canada is a favorable factor for faster integration ... I'm not sure if it's true though that agents really take it into consideration

As specified in personal history.

The aunt would only have an impact on almost all forms of immigration unless there are points involved.

thanks .... but won't the overlap cause pb ?

exp :

2017-2022: work experience in company xxx
2018-2021: education activity : CFA program

I read that there shouldnt be no overlap and no gap

and for the documents, should I send sth like an explanation letter with CFA letter of passing L3 enclosed ?

Thank you so much for your insights

IRCC is aware that some exam prep or studies are done during non-work hours. You aren’t counting points for the studies. CFA is fairly common licensing so IRCC should be aware that it is typically done while working more as a skill upgrade. Being a CFA would reinforce your qualification for various NOCs in finance and any work experience in banking.

Thanks .. my NOC is 10010, and it's mentioned that CPA or CFA can be among the qualifications for carrying such roles.

the thing is, I'm working as finance manager in a company, and the activity is not related to financial markets . Actually I took the exams years ago to apply to financial analysis positions and work in companies related to market research and portfolio management .. but unfortunately, it happend right after the corona outbreak, so I had to put it on hold since then ... In nutshell, it is mentionned in my NOC, but my job itself is slightely related to CFA ( I did once participate in evaluating the acquisiton of a new company for exp) ... is it still alright if I added it?

another thing, I did pass all the exams, but i didn't apply for the charter ... as I said before I didn't convert to typical CFA roles, so I couldn't satisfy the work experience requirement. ... so I hope it's not mandatory to be a charterholder to mention it, and I can only say I just passed the exams during that periode ?

and last question please, do I add an explanation letter and include CFA institute that I succeded in the exams ?

Thanks again for your prompt replys . I really appreciate your assistance with this matter.
