Pwgp extension due to passport expired

Hi everyone, I need clarification. My passport expired earlier, so I only got a 1.5-year PGWP instead of 3 years. After renewing my passport, I applied for the extension before my permit expired. Now my work permit is expired, and today I got a refusal saying You do not possess a valid Labour Market Impact Assessment and
Confirmation from Employment and Social Development Canada. Your prospective employer is responsible for obtaining this confirmation.. The agency told me it was wrong decision and they will apply for reconsideration. In this case, am I allowed to work or not . What step I can take next

So you apply for PGWP extension via paper and not online. When did you apply for extension. You have to stop working if your current PGWP expired. Who is the "agency" told you because if over the phone then talking to call centre agents. You can apply for reconsideration but cannot work until approved. You should restore status of work permit (if within 90 days) and reapply via paper at the same time.

As per the link, PGWP extension is a paper application not online.

You must apply on paper if you’re extending or changing the conditions of your PGWP.

You can only extend your PGWP if your passport expired earlier than the full period of eligibility of your PGWP. If your passport expired earlier than the length of time you’re eligible, we will only issue you a PGWP that’s valid until your passport expires.

So rightly refused. Submit a reconsideration and at the same time, reapply via paper and restore status which is the process. Stop working. Get a lawyer too.

When did your work permit expire? The agency should know better and that PGWP extensions are done via paper. Sometimes approved but if IRCC follows its operations then you were rightly refused for online application. If another online application was submitted then may be refused.

August 8th its expired and I applied before 6 moths of expiring.

You cannot work at all if your current work permit expired. You now need to restore status and reapply via paper. You cannot work until PGWP extensions is approved. Expect 5-7 months. Fire the agency and contact a lawyer for next steps.
