Hi everyone,

I submitted my application for Canadian citizenship on March 7th and received my AOR on March 27th. Since then, I haven’t received any updates—no test invitation, nothing at all.

Is this normal? Do you think I should just wait, or is there something else I can do? I’d really appreciate your suggestions and advice.

Thanks!
Did you link your application to the tracker? What does it say?

Try calling IRCC as well.

Yeah my wife has Oath on 24th and no email yet, its been a week now. I assume (never assume) that they fill the ceremony up before sending the email invitation. She will need time off work and depending on whether its in person or virtual, it will be half a day off or the entire day. Unnecessarily frustrating.

Edit: Update Oath invitation arrived today. All updates on the tracker have been on a Friday throughout this
Yea, super frustrating. I mean, how dare the government not build an entire federal oath schedule around your wife’s workday? Honestly, if she has to take a whole half-day off to become a citizen, is it even worth it? They really should’ve given her a custom evening slot, maybe streamed live between Netflix episodes so it wouldn’t interrupt her productivity. Go ahead and email them—demand that citizenship ceremonies work like Uber Eats delivery windows. Honestly, they should’ve let your wife pick her exact time slot, maybe even send a reminder text: “Press 1 to confirm your oath, press 2 to reschedule for after your latte break.” It’s insane they expect her to take time off work—what’s next, asking people to rearrange their lives for weddings, funerals, or other “inconvenient” once-in-a-lifetime events?

HAHAHA......... I just had a good laugh.

absolutely. It’s shocking they haven’t modernized this whole citizenship thing. She should’ve been able to roll up to a DRIVE-THROUGH OATH TAKING WINDOW JUST LIKE AT TIM HORTONS OR MCDONALD'S
“Welcome to Naturalization Express, would you like fries with your passport?”

She can even order the passport online like on Amazon and have same day delivery. That way it will be "LESS FRUSTRATING"

LOL..... people can be funny

Yes, I did check. It says “In progress” for language skills, background verification, physical presence, and probably prohibitions. For citizenship test and the citizenship ceremony, it shows “Not started.”

Do you think if I call IRCC, anything will change? Or will they just say the same things as always? I remember when I applied for PR, they always said they were doing background checks, security checks, and so on. Whenever we called IRCC, nothing really happened. So, do you think it’s worth spending hours on the phone with them?

Prohibitions cleared today. My timeline,

AOR: 16-April-2025
Test marked Complete: 28-May-2025
Background: 25-July-2025
Language& Physical presence: 29-Aug-2025
Prohibitions: 03-Sep-2025
Citizenship ceremony: Not started
Another update for me. I see the oath invitation for Oct 9th on tracker but have not received e-mail yet.

Do you know where I can find out which type of oath ceremony I selected when I submitted my application? I checked the copy of my application, but it only shows the type of certificate I chose online. I don’t remember exactly whether I selected a virtual or in-person oath. Is calling IRCC the only way to confirm this? It’s been a month since everything was completed, but the oath ceremony hasn’t started yet, so I’m wondering if I might have selected virtual and that’s why it’s taking longer.

Highly amusing, must be nice for you so high up on that pedestal of superiority. Some employers are not so accommodating with short notice absences, it doesn't sound like you have this issue. They knew on Friday 5th but didnt disclose when and where until Fri 12th. That's the point I was making.

Hilarious I obviously deserved to be ridiculed for that comment.
I wish everyone well with their applications.

“Pedestal of superiority” is a dramatic way of saying you got called out for whining about a week’s notice. If the date’s a crisis, you can reschedule no pedestal required
