Today we received an email saying this

Your application for permanent residence is now ready for finalization pending the confirmation of your permanent residence status. You’ll complete this process through the Permanent Residence Portal (PR Confirmation).

Has my wife almost gotten her PR at this stage? She is currently in India traveling so not sure what the next steps are as it mentions to let them know if the principal applicant is not in Canada at the moment.

This almost looks like p1, meaning they think she is inside Canada. It looks like they asked to confirm that she is inside Canada. If this is p1, I think you need to communicate immediately that she isn't inside Canada, as the virtual landing practice cannot be done abroad. I believe they'll resend p1 after she is inside Canada again, but I'm not 100% sure on this. I don't know the full email, so make sure you communicate with them and do exactly what it says.

Edit: If she isn't in Canada and will be returning soon, you could also include the date she'll be back. If she is NOT going to be returning any time soon, they may be able to switch to a physical landing, but again, not sure about that, and you may have to ask IRCC.

Thanks for responding. She is back on November 21st. It does state to mention if they are not in Canada when they will be back. Can eCOPR not be issued for her before then? Was hoping we would get her PR approved before the end of October due to some obligations which would benefit us if she was a PR instead of a work permit/visitor visa holder.

Not if she wants to do the virtual landing process. That can only start once she returns. And I believe it is just the first step of the process that starts when she returns, meaning you'll have a 4+ week wait for ecopr after that.

You could see if she is able to do the physical landing process instead and send in her passport, but even that would take probably around 4-5 weeks if/when she received that request. I'd maybe call ircc to see if you have that option.
