Applied PR october 2023. 2024 jan bio metrics submitted. Pre arrival received and eligibility passed 2024 December. After that no update. Anyone here like me? It's been 23 months now. How long we need to wait? ( Ontario)

Imagine this, i passed elegibility may 2024. And just silent after that. Looks like they are not working in Our files.
Should be our time, it passed 24 months (+) But they increase and increase processing times. When You reach the time, so they increase more and You can't request help to MP because You are still "within the timeframe"

You are essentially in a long queue. Canada received a large volume of asylum claimants (many who became protected people) and refugees in a short period of time under the Trudeau government for a variety of reasons. Now most are applying for PR all while Canada tries to decrease the volume of PRs approved in Canada on a yearly basis. This has created long backlogs and processing times will continue to increase for quite some time. All you can do is wait. As long as your processing time remains somewhat in line with others who applied at the same time there is nothing you can do but wait. You will eventually get to the front of the queue.

Ignore posted processing times they are backward looking. Compare yourself to others being processed in or outside Quebec to get the most realistic idea of current processing times. Processing times will continue to increase. There was a large number of asylum claimant (many who became protected people) and refugees who arrived in the past 5+ years and many have now applied for PR. The PR quota allocated doesn’t match the volume of applicants so processing times will continue increasing for some time. This is the case for many immigration programs in Canada at the moment.

I feel so sad for people who do not have a life, are miserable, and share fake news to play with the feelings of others. My heart is with them, even if they are mean and selfish, and I feel sorry for them because they are lonely and hate people after being rejected by society. My advice to them is to get a life and change themselves.

The reality of the immigration system and what people should expect should actually be viewed as helpful. If people are confused as to why processing is taking so long, why they are not seeing progress in their applications, why posted processing times aren’t a good measure of actual or future processing times especially given current situation and why an MP would not be able to help you if you have similar processing times as others then people likely lack knowledge of the immigration system and it’s current challenges in Canada. Knowledge is power even if you don’t like the answer. People should focus on building a life in Canada knowing as long as they meet the criteria they will eventually get PR. They can actually control what happens in their private lives and not how the government is trying to reduce the number of temporary residents and PRs by decreasing annual quotas. If you applied for PR in 2022 you likely arrived in Canada when it was relatively easy to enter and backlogs were not that long for things like asylum claims. Much harder to enter Canada now, you could be waiting many years for a hearing, likely 3-5 years (if not longer) for PR and we are about to see significant governent cuts which will likely also impact programs for asylum claimants, protected people and refugees. Canada is also not deporting people after they made an asylum claim, they provide legal aid and due process, multiple avenues of appeal, multiple avenues of support, etc. Some perspective is required considering what is going on in the world and even within Canada.
