Hello,

Outland application.

My medicals were done back in Nov 23 while my wife's was done in Mar 24. In Nov 24 IRCC updated my medical automatically until Nov 25. However when my wife's medical expired, it was not updated. We finally got some movement in our application last week and IRCC requested medical for both of us even though mine is still valid until Nov 25 and none of this delay has been our fault.

Do we really need to re do medical or can I save these costs by raising a webform and requesting them by sending the previous medical and explaining the situation.

If you search through the forum, almost everyone ended-up re-doing the medical again. I personally have never seen them respond to webforms and cancel an outstanding medical request (you can do a sense check on my claim by looking at old threads too).

Usually, medical costs are very low in most countries, so, I'd think through about the balance between delaying processing by requesting IRCC via a webform VS re-doing medical and saving time too!

medical costs are quite high where i am currently. will wait for some days to see if they respond to the web form. if not, then have no choice but to give the medical.

Your choice! What's your country of residence where medicals are expensive though? (just curious)

I am in Saudi Arabia and it costs like 1600 SAR for one person’s medical. It may not be that high in your currency but relative to my salary, it is quite high especially for 2.

This is relatively expensive from what I've usually seen. Most of us paid 1/10 of the cost or less, hence the curiosity!

An update:
Me and my wife did give our medicals. Mine was clear. My wife's X ray persumably showed some thickening. They asked her for sputum samples. The initial sputum test was negative and the sputum culture test result which came last week (after two months) was also negative thankfully.

Now is the second x ray necessary? The panel physician had initially given us a date: 23rd September. But now when I have checked the appplication, IRCC have update her medical expiry date and the application reads: Medical passed. We have not yet received any official request for another x ray yet.

Yes you need to do the 2 chest x-ray it is part of the TB testing. IRCC will compare both of the x-rays to see if there is a change, no change or improvement then reassess if she needs further tests.

My wife's sputum culture results were negative. The same day my medical physician submitted them to e medical and the next day IRCC updated the status to completed/passed. I asked my panel physician and they informed me second x ray is not required. The very next day my COPR was issued and today we submitted our passports (outland).

Very strange. It is actually gold standard partially because it can be hard to get a good sputum culture from many people so both X-rays comparison over time and the sputum culture are used to rule out TB. You may have just gotten lucky.

It is definitely odd! Because once an oddity is confirmed (in relation to TB), Canada strongly expects a month X-ray and sputum test (prelim+long culture). Most people don't think much of it when they are out of Canada, but this is a better and safe approach to keep the risk of TB low. I'm not sure how they were issued a CoPR. Might be a slip-up.
