The issue is if she was reported she would have already lost her status and wouldn’t have qualified to apply for the extension when she did. The other issues is IRCC is now looking back to see when people started to be non-compliant with their study permit. You basically have to wait and see what happens and whether restoration is possible.

I am expecting the rejection because of that, but how does an applicant know they lost it? She just applied for an extension.
Will this affect the sponsorship? She won't have status either way by the time we get married and apply for sponsorship

Well, we do not know yet. She should try to restore her status if possible after being rejected for study permit extension. (the rejection letter would state if she has option to apply to restore her status)
And if restoration is approved she can continue to extend her stay as visitor.

If she doesn't get it, which she won't, what happens?
and restoration for study or can be restored to visitor and explain that we are planning to get married and apply for sponsorship?

I am not as familiar as others here on restoration. I will let others respond.
My guess is as visitor since she doesn't have intension to study.

Wait for the refusal letter. We can’t guess if she has already lost her status or not. She can’t restore to student she hasn’t been studying and has no admission letter and PAL to continue studying. You can always explain when you attempt to restore. It would be better to actually be married and show that you have submitted the sponsorship application already and proof of funds.

you mean, then explain in the restoration for visitor visa?

thank you for the replies.

After rejection letter on the study permit extension, can we apply for visitor visa inside Canada and explain that we are preparing for a sponsorship, proving evidance of marriage, family ties to home (visitor visa requirement), and meanwhile applying for sponsorship?

or should we just apply under public policy and have her with no status and go through the sponsorship process?
