Petition e‑6601: Fast‑Track Family Reunification for Asylum‑Approved Refugees

Dear Canada Immigration Forum community,

I’ve signed Petition e‑6601, led by Ahmed Nasr from Ottawa, and I hope you will too. It urges the Canadian government to:

  1. Rescue dependents abroad immediately once the principal asylum claim is approved
  2. Fast‑track permanent residency applications for all protected persons
  3. Enhance transparency and tracking within IRCC’s process
Families of refugees often endure 3–5 years of painful separation before loved ones can join them in Canada. The emotional and financial toll is immense. Shortening this wait would mean reunion, support, and stability much sooner.

Here’s how you can help:

Every confirmed signature helps push refugee reunification to the front of the agenda. Thank you for adding your name—and for spreading the word!

if there was enough signs, it would have been working.

No probably not. This would increase the volume of temporary residents and put more pressure on infrastructure. As I have explained previously it would be best to try to petition for something more manageable as well as palatable to the general public and that would benefit Canada versus putting adding strain. For example asking for family reunification after family abroad have passed eligibility as long as family member in Canada can prove they can financially support their family without government support would likely be a more attainable goal. It may only get family to Canada a year or two earlier but that is better than nothing.
