Hi everyone,

Timelines seem noticeably delayed for PSR applicants at the Turkey visa office right now. I started this thread so folks with files in Turkey can compare dates, set expectations and help each other feel less alone. If you’re comfortable, please share your timeline. it really helps the rest of us see how things are moving.

My timeline
  • Application submitted: Jan 2023
  • G number received: Apr 2023
  • Processing started and visa office assigned: May 2023
Wishing all of us smoother progress and faster updates. Sending patience to everyone waiting

Hi alyhas

Thanks for sharing your timeline it’s really helpful for the rest of us who are in the same boat with the Ankara visa office. I noticed your application has been in process for quite a while since May 2023 and I was wondering if you’ve had any updates since then like medical requests, interview notices, or GCMS notes?

For comparison, here’s my family’s timeline:

  • Application submitted: 23 March 2023
  • SA approval: 2 May 2025
  • AOR: 14 May 2025
  • Visa office: Ankara

I’m trying to figure out whether such long waits are just general backlog at Ankara or if there are specific factors in certain cases. Have you been told of any particular issues or reasons for the delay in your case?

Wishing you quick progress and hoping we both hear good news soon!

If you don’t mind me asking, have you had any updates during that time, such as:

  • A request for interview
  • Medical request
  • Additional document or clarification request
  • Security/background check updates

Just wondering if there’s a specific step that’s causing the delay in your case, so others like me with files at Ankara can better understand what to expect.

I think it's a good idea to request your GCMS notes at this point, especially since your application process is taking longer than usual. Is there anything specific in your case that might be causing the delay?

Thanks for sharing your timeline. I know Ankara is slow these days, but 2+ years without any updates does seem unusually long compared to most cases we’ve seen. Sometimes IRCC sends requests or notices that end up in spam or get missed, so it might be worth double checking your email and account just in case. When you get your GCMS notes, could you check if there’s anything like a hold, security review, or missing info noted? That would help a lot of us understand if the delays are purely due to backlog or if something specific might be holding things up.

Not unusually long especially at moment. Private sponsorship was always a long process but as Canada tries to reduce the volume of PRs in general and is struggling to absorb an extremely high volume of Asylum seekers, refugees and other H&C files who have arrived in the past 5-10 years. Canada does not have the capacity to absorb the people already in Canada so it is pulling back from its resettlement commitments outside Canada.

You are experiencing normal processing times so I doubt GCMS notes will show anything but you can certainly order them.

While I appreciate your input, I have to point out that IRCC’s own published service standard for G5 sponsorship is 24 months from the AOR date, and many recent Ankara cases are moving faster than that. While Canada may indeed be facing domestic capacity issues, these challenges have not changed the official timelines IRCC communicates to applicants. GCMS notes are a tool applicants use to see exactly where their file is in the process, whether it is within normal times or experiencing delays. They aren’t only for people with abnormally long waits they can also help confirm that a file is progressing normally. My goal is simply to make informed decisions using transparent information, not to speculate.

I was told the same, tbh. 28 month for second part of application in Ankara right now. We are hoping to get something by the end of this year.

IRCC posted processing times are notoriously wrong. The intention was good but now often creates more confusion because they are not reflective of true processing times. The best way to determine actual processing time is to compare to others applying at the same time. There are some urgent cases that are expedited but in general processing times are take longer than posted processing times. Canada adjusts processing times all the time within and outside Canada without informing applicants. Sure you can order GCMS notes but with 3 applications with similar processing times there is likely no additional information about processing that will come from the GCMS notes.

Fingers crossed but would also prepare for longer processing times as well. We are seeing private sponsorship in many offices take a long time. Canada is also going through a lot of changes at the moment including attempting to reduce the number of PRs and temporary residents. A lot of the math does not add up. Still better than many other countries which are cancelling applications outright even when in final stages.

I agree at this point this delay seems genenrous and more humane.
