Friends, I concluded my refugee hearing today. Although I believe I answered well and the persecution I faced was systematic and well documented in the media, which means is not a complicated case, but unfortunately the judge did not made the decision after the hearing. He only mentioned that the decision will be sent to me by mail.

But at the end of the hearing, he kindly wished us a pleasant weekend. Could this be a bad sign? I’ve heard almost everyone are informed the decision in the hearing day, but mine is little different. My lawyer said I should not worried it’s not a bad decision, but I still nervous and can’t stop thinking about it.

How long do I need to wait for the decision?

Thanks!

My decission took six months to arrive by email!!!

It's not usual But is not weird that they don't notify in the same day. Yo can wait two weeks-one month and it's normal.

About the wish For good weekend, canadians are polite . That's all. Not meaning.

What I Heard before is that when the decission is negative, they usually notify at the end of the hearing. So it Will be probably positive for You.

Good luck!

Never heard of negative decisions being given during a hearing only positive ones. That said many members never give out their ruling at the end of the hearing.

Means nothing in terms of approval/refusal. Many members never give out their ruling at the end of a hearing. They aren’t required to. Wouldn’t analyze the end of the hearing too much. As previously said it could be a few weeks to a few months for a NOD.

It is just fact that members don’t refuse applications during a hearing. There is nothing negative about that statement.

I assume You are an Officer and knows everything. Always write like that.
You always come to My post and write the opposite. Me and others in this forum always wrong and You are always right. Amazing!

It is important to correct misinformation so people are as educated as possible about the process. Negative hearing results are not given out at hearings primarily for safety reasons. Some members do advise asylum applicants of a positive decision at the end of a hearing although they are not required to do so and some never do. It is personal preference. Some members also don’t make decisions during the hearing and like to reflect on cases before deciding to refuse or approve an application. Members may also send out their NODs quickly while others take more time. There is huge variability in how a hearing can go, when you may receive your NOD and it does not dictate the outcome. Many are under the false impression that not getting approval during a hearing means they will be refused which is not the case. I would also not want anyone to think they have a high chance of approval because members frequently give out refusals after hearings.
