Hello everyone,

I will be applying for my mum’s supervisa. My income from last year (t4) is enought to meet the LICO requirements to sponsor her. However i am leaving my current employer. Will that be an issue for her application?

Even though my income requirement has been made based on last year’s income (I can provide my t4 to prove that), will IRCC check with my employer to see if I am still employed there?

Any response will and appreciated!

You need your notice of assessment.

Not ideal since you are supposed to be supporting your parent while they visit Canada. Do you have other employment lined up or significant savings that you can live on for an extended period of time if you don’t find other employment? Job market is not great for most professions so unless you have secured employment already I would be reluctant to leave a job at the moment.

Do i have significant savings to support myself and my parent?
Yes.

Do I have another job lined up at the moment?
That I don’t. Due to some issues at work I have to leave. I am leaving in good terms. However I was wondering if that would be an issue? I am meeting the IRCC requirement of having an employment income in 2024 that meets the LICO requirements. I can provide my NOA and T4 as well. Even paystubs till now can be provided alomg with bank statements that shows my pay going in till now. I have statements from my savings ac that would have adequate balance for her stay ($20k or more).

I have my notice of assessment. I can provide that and my t4 both. I can even provide some latest paystubs till now, though not necessary. I can show statements with savings from the savings account as well. I believe that should suffice for the super visa?

IMO you are good.

Thats what i was thinking as well. I have resigned from my current job. While her visa application is in process i will be applying for other jobs, i may even find another one while that is under process. Thank you for your response.

My last year income meets the LICO threshold. I have my t4 and NOA both. NOA is slightly even higher, due to some income from skip/ doordash work. However t4 income alone meets the LICO requirement. I can even upload both t4 and NOA. Thanks for your answer!

That member is spamming the forum. Ignore his/her respond.

@SAR66 I am in a similar position where I want to apply using only NOA and T4 of 2024 as I will be leaving my job soon. Did you run into any issues? Was your supervisa approved? I would really appreciate any insight into this.

Incredibly dependent on your personal circumstances. You need to show you will be able to financially support your parents. If you have substantial savings and could afford to be unemployed for quite a while and still support your parents financially it is very different than having minimal savings while being unemployed.

@canuck78 I have 70k+ in savings and investments. Also, I have been making decent money and can use NOA and T4 showing 150k+ income for last year. I am just worried if I will have to provide my paystubs or employment letter because I am unable to do that. Have people applied with just NOA and T4s and got supervisas approved? What are the chances they will require me to provide my employment letter and paystubs?

Most typically include proof they are employed when they apply for the supervisa. Liquid cash is what is most important. Though to predict how being unemployed will impact your application. For good reason it could be a concern for IRCC. When unemployed the goal should be to minimize your expenses not add to them and with the current job market it may take quite a while to find employment again. If your parents have significant savings and assets so they would be able to cover their own expenses while visiting Canada that would probably make your application stronger.
