RTD travel - Which nationality to select while booking a ticket

Yes. That happened to me. Because they have to scan the code and in that code appears your country. Check your travel document, You Will see XXX. So the system didn't recognize a country with that short name. Clerk attendant should write a note in the system to print your ticket.

So it’s okay even if I leave it as Canadian? Because the airline asked me to write it that way.

The issuing country is CAN But your nationality is your Home country. They Will call You to the front , I'm sure. But do what they Said. Good luck.

I went to Costa Rica. Ill have my travel document, notice of decission and work permit. But they never asked me for any other document. When Arriving and departing , they called me to the desk even that I checked on line, because my travel document doesnt state my nationality. They did it manually and by the way, takes time because not all the officer knows how to do in the system, had to call a supervisor and ask how to proceed. That was my experience. I dont know about other countries.

I do understand your point but how to justify that as there is no citizenship mentioned on the RTD ?

There's your nationality inside. Place of birth, and some countries take that in account for visa purposes.

I'm exempt of Colombia/Costa Rica visa for example, my friend has also RTD and needs visa because he's from Nicaragua.

Our first international travel, He was also treated differently at Mexican immigration by the same agent when they saw NIC. LOTS of questions. When I passed first, they just asked where are you coming from? - Canada. Stamped.

My friend couldn't even do the online check in at flair when putting Nicaragua, he then put Canadian went to the next screen, but an error appeared telling him to go to desk.

Mine worked and showed the seat number but also told me to go to the desk.

I understand like we're still national of our birth countries.

When you are doing your check-in with flair you can use the camera to auto fill the passport information, and it will put your nationality country automatically, not Canada.

You must write your actual citizenship not Canada. This information is used for things like security checks.
