Sponsoring Parents for PR

My husband and I are Canadian Citizens looking to sponsor his mom and her husband to come to Canada as PRs. They are currently in the US on TPS from El Salvador, and they are unsure if the program will continue or if they will be forced to go back to El Salvador, which isn't an option for them.

I know the PGP program hasn't had any applications accepted lately or even allowed anyone to enter their name to be invited. However, are we able to do normal family sponsorship for PR for them? I'm seeing conflicting information that they could be considered "other family members" under family sponsorship, or that they must apply under PGP which isn't an option right now.

They have to be sponsored through PGP. No, you cannot sponsor them under 'other family members'.

Ugh! That’s frustrating. :/ I guess we’ll keep an eye out on the PGP invites to see if they ever open up again. I can’t remember if we put our name in it in 2020 or not. Do you have any idea if we can check?
