I’m also waiting for visa approval from Pakistan.
My timelines are like:
I submitted my application on 14th May.
I do not require biometric and medical examination because I have already done it in 2017.
There is no update on my account since then.
How do you not need a medical? Program?

but mahad, medical examination should not be more than 6 months old, and yes biometric validity is for 10 years
This is strange, honestly, I’m not sure about validity and why they say that I DO NOT need medical examination. Pasting exact wordings under ‘Review of medical results’ below in my application.

Review of medical results
  • You do not need a medical exam. We will send you a message if this changes.

Because they haven't started review of your file to ask for medical. if your program starts in September and haven't yet done the medical then may need to defer.

"No Mahad, this message is written on every applicant’s portal, regardless of whether they did it or not. I think you need to book your appointment."

Hello

I accidentally posted in the wrong forum, but please help me out.

My sister recently got refused.

The reason they gave:

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.
• Pursuant to paragraph 220(a) of the IRPR, I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.
• Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of: your qualifications, previous studies, missing mark sheets, academic record, level of establishment/available financial resources, language abilities, or your future prospects and plans

In her application her tuition fee was $29,500, she gave deposit of $2000 and in total showed proof of fund of $50,000, she also showed monthly income from Business and Rent.

Her class start on September 2025. I mean if she will want to catch the September session, she has to apply now.

But her funding won't be only increased 3000 more, what should we do in this situation, should we reapply with more money, should we wait , should we defer the course till January?

And how should we reapply and is it common the reasoning of the rejection.

Thanks for answering in advance.

the detailed reasoning regarding the refusal of the study permit application under paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR. We would like to respond point by point to clarify and address the concerns raised and provide a pathway for a stronger reapplication.

1. To address the officer’s concern about the purpose of visit not being consistent with a temporary stay:

  • The applicant should provide a detailed statement of purpose clearly outlining her intent to study in Canada and return to her home country after the completion of her program.
  • She should include evidence of her strong ties to her home country, such as:
    • Proof of ongoing employment or a job offer to return to.
    • Property ownership or family responsibilities.
    • Business ownership or rental income supported with official documents.
  • A recent employer certificate mentioning her current job role, start date, and confirmation of employment post-study can significantly help demonstrate intent to return.

2. The application showed $50,000 in proof of funds and a $2,000 tuition deposit. This should generally be sufficient, but further clarification and documentation are needed to address concerns:

  • It is not sufficient to submit only bank statements. You must also
    • Establish the relationship between the sponsor and applicant through a Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
    • Submit a bank maintenance certificate showing consistent available funds over at least the past 6–8 months.
    • Provide a signed affidavit of sponsorship, where the sponsor declares financial support for the candidate's studies and stay.
    • Attach the sponsor’s employment proof (job letter or business registration), and tax return certificate of the sponsor from the last year.
  • If the applicant is self-funded:
    • All documents above must still be provided but under her own name.
    • Proof of rental and business income must be included along with tax returns and bank maintenance certificates to validate the source and stability of funds.
    • Deposit slip of the fees which has added for course
    • Enrollment slip (if issued)

3. The officer questioned the relevance of the proposed study program in light of past qualifications:

  • The applicant should submit:
    • Complete academic transcripts and degrees, including any missing mark sheets.
    • A clear study plan that aligns her past education and/or work experience with the proposed course.
    • A brief justification of how the course will enhance her career, and how it logically fits into her previous studies or future career path.
    • Employment history, including job letters or experience certificates, that correlate with the course she is applying for.

4. Since her program starts in September 2025, and considering the current refusal:

  • If she can gather all supporting documents (as listed above) and maintain her bank balance consistently, she can consider reapplying now.
  • If maintaining a higher bank balance for 6–8 months is not feasible at this point, deferring the admission to January 2026 and preparing a much stronger file is advisable.
  • A deferral may also allow more time to gather tax returns, longer bank maintenance history, and stronger employment or business documentation.

5. Yes, these are fairly common refusal reasons under IRPR. Visa officers often reject applications that lack:

  • A strong explanation of the purpose of visit and post-study plans.
  • Consistent financial history (not just lump-sum deposits).
  • Proper justification of academic or career relevance to the course.
In Summary:
For a successful reapplication:
  • Ensure financial documents are detailed, consistent, and supported with maintenance history and tax returns.
  • Clearly establish ties to the home country (employment, property, family).
  • Align academic/professional background with proposed studies.
  • Consider deferral only if additional time is required to solidify the case.
