Study Permit Processing Delays 2025

Hi everyone,

I applied for a study permit from Uganda on May 5, submitted my biometrics on May 7, and the biometrics were updated on the portal by May 12.

At the time I applied, the stated processing time was 4 weeks, but it has now been 7 weeks since I submitted my application, and there’s still no update.

I’ve already raised a webform inquiry, but so far… NOTHING.

Has anyone else faced similar delays? How long did it take for you to get a response or decision?

Processing times are an estimate so nothing to do but wait. If webform was just to ask about status then really no need to respond. All application reviews go beyond processing times. Time change weekly, and could be 12 weeks tomorrow.

Hello everyone,

I’m an Italian applicant and I submitted my study permit application on April 22nd.

I gave my biometrics on May 6th, and I now see the Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL) dated June 10th in my application.



On the official IRCC website, the estimated processing time for study permit applications from Italy is 6 weeks.



My question is:

From which date do the 6 weeks start?

• The date I submitted my application (April 22)?

• The date I gave biometrics (May 6)?

• Or the date the BIL was issued/updated in my file (June 10)?



Any insights or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

My course starts on July 7, but I'm only required to be there on August 25

I delivered my biometric on the 4 of june, but it still says on my application that they have not received my fingerprints

How can they not have received it?? Its been over a month, is that normal?

from what I have seen on the other forums, it could take some time to get your biometrics on the portal.
