Long Background Check After Eligibility Passed Please Share Your Experience

I’m reaching out to hear from others who have been through a similar situation. My application status shows “Eligibility Completed”, but I’ve been waiting for a long time now with no updates on the background check.

If you’ve experienced a long wait after eligibility was completed, could you please share:

How long your background check took after eligibility?
What, if anything, you did to help move the process along (e.g., webform requests, MP inquiry, GCMS notes)?

Any advice or tips that helped you stay informed or get an update?

Hi. We applied outland December 2024. We've been in background check since early March. Biometrics and Medicals were completed since February. No updates whatsoever, not even a ghost update on the tracker. I've sent a webform request in May but never heard back. At this point all we can do is wait and hope for an update soon.

You are still within your processing time my application is 16 months now.

I know, but its just frustrating to see people who applied months after us get their PPR within 2 or three months. We're just unlucky, I guess.

6 months for me, and I just waited.

So how many months did you wait in total before final decision?

Some countries are faster in responding to Canada’s request for information

It would negate the term background check if Canada gave everyone a pass without receiving the true information

8 for me. Everything was done so fast at the beginning and nothing for 6 months...
